P90X and My Love of Infomercials

Photo of the infomercial king Ron Popeil
Although I ditched cable a long time ago (cable meaning all TV) I watched my fair share of infomercials at my parents house growing up.  I'm not sure why, I think it was mostly for the entertainment value but there was also an element of popular science junk gadgetry appeal to them.

I mean you gotta love a guy like Ron Popeil, and for that matter Jack Lalanne.  The most memorable spectacle being Jacks demonstration of swimming with a bunch of boats tied to him all powered by the raw energy of freshly squeezed juice.  Genius.

I always thought the workout and fitness gadgets were the worst, with Tony Little's Gazelle Glider taking the cake.  I looked like a cheap Bi Way (hat tip to the Giant Tiger and other non memorable Canadian retailers) swing set jimmy rigged together with some back yard welding into a horrible take on an eliptical trainer.

So what the heck am I doing embarking on the p90x journey made famous by Tony Horton's extremely popular infomercial?  Well simply I like his approach and it seems like a complete workout routine: weights, yoga, pliometrics, cardio and stretching.  This is the first step before I start heading back to Dragan's BJJ (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu).

I'm going to create a new label called p90x so that if anyone actually finds my blog while searching for p90x they can keep up with my progress via an RSS feed.

The only real question that remains is will I shock the world with some nasty before and after pictures?  I'll take 'em but posting them might be way too much fromage.

Every time the P90X infomercial comes on I watch it. I don't know what it is about it but I can't turn the channel. Its probably because I did P90X 3 times and got great results.

Stick with it and you will get hooked too. Right around Day 30 is when the big changes start coming.

You should check out the Beachbody Coach program if you have not done so already. Go to and click on the "Coach" tab.

Feel free to contact me about it.

Take those before and after photos and really commit to it.
